Illiteracy in America...

I did an article years ago talking about the problems with illiteracy in America.  Recently I have been hearing more bad news and figured, fuck it, I'll share the pain.

Approximately 32 million adults in America are considered to be illiterate.  14% of the entire population can't read.

Among developed nations U.S is ranked 16th for adult reading skills...

Between 40-44 million adults are reading at the basic or below basic proficiency levels.

It's estimated that roughly 63 million adults can read between a sixth and eighth grade level.
What does that mean?  It means we need to start busting our collective ass and try to turn this shit around.  We need to work with kids and get em reading at an early age.  Reading to little ones increases the chance of them becoming readers.
